COMPANY OVERVIEW
Peter C. Ronca, Chief Executive Officer/President
Mr. Ronca has extensive experience and success in the small business and telecommunication co-location arena. In addition to his strategic responsibilities, Mr. Ronca chairs the Board of Directors and directs business development, product development, and long term sales and marketing initiatives for Shatter.
Most notably, Mr. Ronca was formerly President and founder of The RACO Group of Companies, a telecommunications co-location company based in Western New York. He was primarily responsible for strategic, sales, and marketing details of all aspects of RACO. He successfully added multiple locations in New York City, Chicago, and Toronto, growing RACO Group to a $10 million co-location company, before its acquisition by Switch and Data (later acquired by Equinix).
Following the acquisition by Switch and Data, Mr. Ronca was appointed Vice President of Sales Operations. His responsibilities included the coordination of sales and provisioning of new business, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. He directed the establishment and development of an internal Sales/Customer Service unit that assumed responsibility for 80% of Switch and Data’s customer base. This unit is still an active operation and an integral part of the sales group for Equinix.
Preceding the creation of RACO, Mr. Ronca was President and equity owner of a financial telemarketing firm. He developed and implemented the business plan leading to the sale of Smartline Systems, Inc. to a New York City based Financial Banking Corporation.
Prior to his experience in telecommunications, Mr. Ronca was Senior Vice President with one of the top 10 Savings Bank in the US. Overall experience includes extensive experience in operations, voice/data technologies and systems development in the Financial Services Industry. Mr. Ronca led the management buyout of Smartline, a subsidiary of Empire of America, into a privately owned telephone banking services firm.
Mr. Ronca is currently the Chairman of the Board for InfoTech Niagara, the trade association of Western New York's information technology industry. In 2012, he served on the WNY Regional Council – Professional Work Group, which was part of the New York State Economic Development initiative launched by Governor Andrew Cuomo. He obtained a BS degree with a concentration in MIS from State University of New York at Buffalo – School of Management.
Mark Musone, Chief Technology Officer
In addition to overseeing all technological aspects of Shatter IT’s business, Mr. Musone directs all systems and network administration, technical support and security. He leads the technology team, which includes partner production, software development, system and network administration, technical support and security. Mr. Musone also manages the day-to-day programming operations, ensuring the highest standards of speed, reliability and security. He also directs the technical development and implementation of 24Seven, Shatter IT’s signature monitoring and reporting software.
In the community, Mr. Musone was on the original development team for the Web programming language, PHP. He is considered a pioneer in open-source calendaring application s (MCAL). He is also active in Linux groups and various software groups. He enjoys speaking at various colleges and technology institutes, conducts student tours of Shatter IT, and is active in InfoTech Niagara’s student shadowing program.
Mr. Musone was the 2009 recipient of InfoTech Niagara's Chief Executive of the Year award for his accomplishments in the area of I.T. Recently, Shatter IT was the 2010 recipient of the InfoTech Niagara’s Corporate Culture Award.
Prior to co-founding Shatter I.T., Mr. Musone served as Chief Technology Officer at Synacor, and oversaw technical development and implementation at Synacor. Here at Shatter, Mr. Musone managed similar responsibilities as Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Chek, where he helped the company become one of the top communications providers in the world. Co-author of Professional PHP, Mr. Musone is considered a pioneer in open-source calendaring applications (MCAL); he is active in Linux groups, Internet messaging protocols and software groups.
Suzanne C. Furlani, Chief Operations Officer
Mrs. Furlani has extensive experience in small business management of service-oriented businesses, with a concentration in the telecommunications co-location and the financial services industries. She is responsible for all facets of corporate operations and administration. In 2012, she managed the attainment of SSAE-16 Certification for Shatter providing validation of Shatter’s corporate culture that balances exceptional customer service with a high degree of information security awareness.
Prior to joining Shatter, Mrs. Furlani was Chief Administrative Officer and an equity owner in The RACO Group of Companies, a telecommunications co-location company based in Western New York, until its acquisition by Switch and Data (later acquired by Equinix). She was primarily responsible for corporate administration including, human resources, legal services, contract negotiations, and finance/accounting functions. She was also responsible for the development and assessment of business cases for corporate expansion and potential acquisition opportunities.
Following the acquisition, Mrs. Furlani was Project Manager for Switch and Data. She was responsible for the negotiation, acquisition, due diligence and transition of operations from RACO Group to Switch and Data. Post acquisition, Mrs. Furlani was instrumental in the establishment and development of an internal Sales/Customer Service unit. She also served as a member of Switch and Data’s Product Development Team.
Prior to RACO Group, Mrs. Furlani was Vice President and equity owner of Smartline Systems, a financial telemarketing firm. She was instrumental in transitioning Smartline, a subsidiary of Empire of America, into a privately owned telephone banking services firm. She formerly served as Vice President with a $10 billion savings bank with over 15 years financial services experience in branch management, human resources, operations, telephone banking, call center management and corporate planning.
Mrs. Furlani currently serves on the Executive Board of the Mental Health Association of Erie County, and Chairs the Nominating Committee. She has recently completed UB’s High-Tech Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Program.
